ASSOCIATION CHAIRMAN - Robin Vickery

ROBIN VICKERY was elected as Chairman of Central Suffolk and North Ipswich Conservative Association at the AGM held on 16th March 2018.

For the past 9 years I have been pleased to represent the residents of Castle Hill as your Borough Councillor.

I have regularly attended Area Committee and Neighbourhood Partnership Group meetings, where I have represented residents views and concerns for the area. During the past 9 years I have served on the Culture, Leisure and Sport Working Group, the Public Protection Working Group, Chairman of the Allotment Service Panel, a member of the Licencing Committee, and I am currently Shadow Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Sport.

For 4 years I served as a County Councillor for the Whitehouse and Whitton Division on Suffolk County Council, and through my dual roles I have always worked very closely with the North West Ipswich Safer Neighbourhood Team to try and reduce Anti Social Behaviour in the area. I have helped find funding for numerous projects in Ipswich, which have been of great benefit to residents, particularly with regards to Healthier Lifestyles and reducing Anti Social Behaviour. The most successful project being the “Friday Night Football” aimed at youths between the ages of 12 and 23, which has been running for the past 5 years, and gained Local and National Awards for its achievements.

I have supported residents with problems such as flooding issues in Ashcroft Rd, and over unfair cuts to the number 19 bus service. I have also actively supported the Northern Fringe Protection Group in trying to protect our Greenbelt Area from piecemeal development.

My other interests have included being Chairman of Ipswich branch of The Royal British Legion, Chairman of Ipswich in Bloom, a member of the Joint Advisory Committee for the Greenways Project, and an observer on the Boards of The New Wolsey Theatre and Dance East. I regularly attend local events, particularly those associated with Whitton Church, and act as a Volunteer Helper for the annual “Holiday at Home” project run by Dryden Rd United Reformed Church. I am also on the Management Committee of Paddy Geere Residential Home.
