About Dan

Dan is a working hospital doctor, and is engaged to Joanna who grew up and went to school in Stowmarket. Dan and Joanna are in the process of making their home in the heart of the constituency in Framlingham.

As a doctor, Dan works primarily in obstetrics, gynaecology and womens health. He has previously worked in a wide range of medical specialties including A&E, acute medicine, rheumatology, respiratory medicine, general surgery and trauma & orthopaedic surgery. Dan has also served on regional healthcare improvement committees including the Surrey and Sussex Patient Experience Task Group which improved the quality of care for older patients in Surrey and Sussex Healthcare, and more recently on a womens health task group promoting best practice in natural childbirth.

Dan also has a strong background in local government, is a previous Deputy Leader of Reigate and Banstead Council, and has delivered multi-million pound regeneration projects as well as the national award winning Preston Home Energy and Water Conservation project. He also has a law degree from Bristol University.

Outside of work, Dan volunteers his free time to charity, and has previously helped to set up medical and lifestyle advice clinics for the homeless and people with drug and alcohol misuse problems. At Christmas, he led a fundraiser for Help for Heroes.

Dan has always been an active sportsman. As a teenager, he played cricket to a good standard, and enjoys watching both Test Match and County Cricket. He still play golf when time permits to an 18 handicap (although this used to be better), and enjoys fishing. When his on call duties permit he remains a keen rugby player and until recently played on a social basis for Guys Hospital Rugby Club. Dan wants to get involved and play rugby and cricket in Central Suffolk and North Ipswich and is looking for local teams to join, but this may have to wait until after the Election.
